RRB NTPC Typing Test Preparation
The 2025 RRB NTPC notices set the typing skill test (CBTST) at 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi, typed without editing tools or spell check. The 2024 CBTST instructions this guide first used also described a 10-minute test and a minimum of 300 English or 250 Hindi words, but that PDF couldn't be re-checked. Train the no-correction habit before the speed
Most typing sites let you fix a mistake mid-word; the cited RRB instructions don't allow that during CBTST. That single difference is why an RRB routine copied from an ordinary typing test underperforms: a candidate used to fixing typos instinctively slows down or hesitates the moment the option disappears. Disable backspace from your very first practice session, at a pace slower than 30 WPM, and only raise the pace once wrong keys stop making you pause. When you do hit a wrong key with corrections off, keep going from the next intended character rather than restarting the word or skipping ahead to catch up — restarting mid-sentence to "fix" an error is itself a habit that costs more words than the original mistake would have. If losing your place turns one slip into several, drop to a shorter, slower passage and use a distinctive upcoming word as a landmark to find your position again.
What the error buffer means for your target
This site's preset allows an error buffer and deducts ten words per penalised mistake beyond it — a practice calculation, not the official RRB evaluation formula, so check your recruitment's actual instructions for how errors are treated there. Compare total words, mistakes and net speed across attempts rather than watching net speed alone: a candidate who reaches 30 WPM by typing fast but sloppily needs the opposite fix from one who reaches it by typing carefully but slowly. Hindi typing: pick one layout and stay on it
The RRB instructions refer to Kruti Dev and Mangal font options for Hindi candidates. Whichever one your recruitment cycle actually specifies, practise only that layout — switching between InScript, Remington-style and Kruti Dev in the final weeks reintroduces exactly the hesitation the no-editing rule punishes. Log the ordinary attempt, not just the best one
Keep a record of a typical attempt alongside your personal best — the amount of text completed and where omissions happened. An RRB mock built only from your best sessions hides the exact failure pattern the no-correction rule is testing for. Confirm the current regional instructions before treating any of this as an official mock; the source-retrieval limitation below still matters.
