How to Use Sarkari Exam Typing
Pick your exam, pick your language, type the passage, read the result. The test itself runs between five and twenty minutes, depending on which exam you pick. No account and no download are needed for the free tests. This page walks through each step and explains what the result screen is telling you.

Your first session, step by step
- Choose your examUse the box at the top of the home page, or open the practice screen for the full list of 31 exam profiles. The profile sets the timer, the speed target and the mistake rule, so this choice changes the test more than anything else you do. If your exam is not listed, pick the closest one and check its rule note.
- Choose your language and keyboard layoutEnglish uses QWERTY. Hindi has three layouts here: Mangal InScript, Mangal Remington GAIL and Kruti Dev 010. Punjabi uses Gurmukhi InScript, Marathi uses Devanagari InScript. Use the layout named in your own exam notice, not the one you find easiest. If the notice only says Mangal, that is a font name and not a layout; the layout comparison explains which is which.
- Type the passageThe test starts when you press Start, not on a countdown, so take a moment to settle your hands first. Type what you see on screen. Which correction keys work depends on the profile: some exams allow free editing, some allow Backspace only inside the word you are typing, and some disable the arrow keys, Delete, Home, End and Tab entirely. The profile applies its own rule automatically.
- Read your resultThe result screen shows speed, accuracy and the words you got wrong. Speed and accuracy are calculated with the formula your chosen exam uses, which is why the same typing can produce different numbers under different profiles. Work through the missed words before you repeat the passage.

There is no free signup: an account is created when you redeem the activation code emailed after a purchase. Plans and prices are on the pricing page, and plans do not renew automatically.
Do you need to install anything?
No. Every layout here, Hindi and Punjabi included, is mapped inside the browser, so Remington GAIL and Kruti Dev work on an ordinary English Windows machine with nothing added. Use a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard; a phone keyboard will not reproduce an exam. The Windows app is optional and useful mainly for practising offline. What this site is not
Sarkari Exam Typing is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with SSC, the railways, any court, any state board or any exam vendor, and a result here is not an official score or certificate. Several profiles include settings that no official document states; those are labelled on each exam page. Your own current notification decides the language, layout, duration, speed and error rules that apply to you.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to take a typing test?
No. The free tests run without an account. An account exists only after you redeem the activation code emailed with a purchase; there is no free signup.
Why is my speed lower here than on other typing sites?
Because the exam profile applies its own rule. Some deduct words for mistakes, some count correct words only, and some check accuracy separately. A general typing site usually reports gross speed with no penalty at all.
