Free typing practice for government exams

Choose your exam in the box at the top of this page, then select Start free typing test. That shortcut opens an English test with your exam preset and a passage picked for you: one of the five free passages on the free plan, or any passage in the bank once you have a paid plan. For Hindi or another language, open More exams & languages and choose your layout before you start.

You get five free passages in each language and can repeat those passages as often as you like. The exam presets are available on the free plan, so you can practise with different timers and targets.

All English lessons and the first lesson in each other keyboard layout are free. A paid plan opens the remaining passages and lessons; the free plan does not expire.

Use the layout named in your exam notice. The website supports Hindi Mangal InScript, Mangal Remington GAIL and Kruti Dev 010. These layouts place characters on different keys, so practising on the right one matters.

If your notice only says Mangal, check whether it also specifies InScript or Remington GAIL. Mangal is a font name and does not identify the keyboard layout by itself. Our Hindi keyboard guide explains the differences.

No. You can take tests and use lessons on this website in your browser. Hindi typing also works here without installing a separate typing app.

Use a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard for exam practice. The Windows download is optional and is useful if you want to practise offline after setting it up.

WPM means words per minute and describes typing speed. Accuracy describes how closely your typing matches the passage. KDPH means key depressions per hour; it is used as a speed target in some data entry tests.

Check the selected preset's scoring notes as well as your speed. Error penalties and timing rules can differ between exams. The scoring guide explains how this website calculates the figures.

Lessons are a useful starting point if you keep looking for keys or are unsure where to place your fingers. Begin with the keys you find difficult, then try a free timed test when you feel comfortable.

After a test, look through the words you missed. Practise those words slowly before repeating the passage. You can move between lessons and tests whenever you want.

Yes. The same activation code works on the website and in the Windows app. A paid plan gives access to the full passage and lesson library for the plan's duration.

Some presets use practice defaults. Always check your current official notification for the language, keyboard layout, time, speed and error rules that apply to your exam.
