What does 30 WPM mean over ten minutes?
Simple multiplication gives 300 words in ten minutes. That example does not include deductions, and the word definition matters: some models use five characters as a word, while others count passage words. Use the scoring explanation to interpret the result.
After the attempt
Read the marked passage, including the words around each mistake. Note whether you lost your place, repeated text or rushed near the end. Use the speed improvement guide to choose one issue to practise before another full attempt.
Keep the same duration, layout and scoring model when comparing your results. You can repeat the free starter passages; use unfamiliar text as well when checking consistency.

How many words is 30 WPM over ten minutes?
Three hundred words, if nothing is deducted.
That figure is gross speed. What you are scored on is usually net speed, after mistakes are counted, so the number on your result will be lower.
Why does the same speed give different scores?
Because the deduction model differs by exam.
One word off per mistake, ten words off past an allowance, and correct-words-only all produce different results from identical typing. The table above shows which applies where.
Should I practise at ten minutes if my exam is fifteen?
No. Practise the full duration your notice sets.
Pace that holds for ten minutes often falls apart at fifteen, and that is exactly the thing you want to find out before the exam rather than during it.
