About this practice test
Practise the PSSSB typing test in English or Punjabi. Advertisement No. 02/2026, for the Clerk recruitment, asks for 30 words per minute in both languages, with Punjabi typed in the Unicode font Raavi, and makes the test qualifying. This practice test runs for 10 minutes.

How the score works
The PSSSB typing practice test scores accuracy rather than word deductions. Full mistakes count as one and half mistakes as half, and the total is divided by the number of words in the passage to give an error percentage. You clear this practice test when your speed reaches 30 WPM and the error percentage stays at 8% or below. The result screen shows each counted mistake.

Typing tips
Do not stop to fix a word you have already passed. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.
- Keep going after a mistake. Accuracy is judged across the whole passage, so one slip costs less than stopping.
- Use the error calculation stated in your result. Do not infer it only from the displayed accuracy percentage.
What the advertisement says, and what it doesn't
PSSSB Advertisement No. 02/2026 says the typing test is taken on a computer in English and Punjabi at 30 words per minute, that Punjabi is typed in the Unicode font Raavi, and that the test is qualifying: you have to pass it, but the merit list comes from the Part-B written exam marks of candidates who pass.
It doesn't give the duration, the accuracy rule or the test screen. Candidate guides quote a Board circular with five characters to a word and 92% accuracy, and describe the passage arriving in ten chunks of about 32 to 34 words, each of which must be finished. We found that circular only on third-party sites. This practice test doesn't split the passage into chunks: you type one continuous passage, so use it for speed and accuracy rather than for practising chunk changes.
How to practise for the PSSSB Clerk typing test
Start Punjabi with a sentence you can already spell. Type it once without a timer, using the chart to find any unfamiliar characters, then look again at the vowel signs and at anything that needed several key presses. Put the chart away for the second copy.
Notice where your hands go when a character slows you down. If you keep reaching for its Hindi position, check that sequence on the Punjabi map again. A similar-looking keyboard lesson will hide that habit until the clock is running.
Longer practice brings a different problem: keeping accuracy steady to the end. Compare the mistakes in the first and last few lines of your marked passage. If the end is worse, build stamina with shorter timed runs before another full attempt.
This preset uses ten minutes, a 30 WPM gross-speed target and an 8% maximum-error setting, working error units against the reference-word denominator. That is not a character-by-character reproduction of the Board's evaluation. Gurmukhi InScript is available here, but that does not establish that your recruitment accepts it, so confirm the required arrangement before settling on a lesson plan.

Keyboard layouts
English practice uses QWERTY. Punjabi practice uses Gurmukhi InScript keys and Unicode text, which is what the Raavi font displays. The advertisement names the Raavi font but no keyboard layout, so check the instructions that come with your admit card. No. It's practice feedback. Only the Board's own typing test decides whether you qualify.
Where does PSSSB publish the typing test instructions?
On its own website and nowhere else. Paragraph 7(xiv) of Advertisement No. 02/2026 says every piece of information about the written examination and the typing test, including the time, the centre, the admit card, the result and any later change, is uploaded only to sssb.punjab.gov.in, and that no individual letters are sent. Paragraph 7(xii) says admit cards are issued there too. That is why the duration and accuracy rule are not in the advertisement itself.
How many posts are in the PSSSB Clerk recruitment?
531. The original advertisement described the posts as those arising from requisitions expected up to 30.09.2026 without fixing a number, which is why different figures circulated. The corrigendum dated 21.08.2026 set the count at 531 Clerk (Common Cadre) posts and itemised them by department.
How does this compare with Punjab Exam Portal?
Punjab Exam Portal reproduces the chunked exam screen and gives about 187 free Punjabi exercises, which this site does not.
