How the score works
Marks come off for every mistake that gets counted. What is left is your score for that language. Speed on its own does not carry the attempt. You can go through the counted mistakes and the deductions on the result screen. The score cannot fall below zero.
Typing tips
If you make a mistake, keep going. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.
- The practice marks do not reproduce a separate Backspace penalty.
- Read the active recruitment instructions before relying on the 2022 source note. Do the same before comparing marks across cycles.
How to practise for the MP High Court JJA typing test
Do not hide the weaker language inside an average. Keep English and Hindi on separate rows in your notebook, with the passage and the mistakes written beside each result. A combined figure can conceal a language you cannot yet sustain for the full duration.
For Hindi, take one marked conjunct from the last attempt and trace its input sequence. For English, look at capitals, commas and word endings. Work on whatever the actual text shows, and accept that the exercise will not be the same in both languages.
If you lean on Backspace, note the moments it interrupts your flow. This app applies no separate Backspace penalty, so a high practice mark cannot settle that part of your preparation. Read the active JJA instructions before committing to a correction strategy, then take a fresh passage without changing the controls halfway through.
The preset uses ten-minute English and Hindi attempts, 350/300-word practice minimums, and Remington GAIL for Hindi. Each attempt starts at 40 marks and applies its own per-mistake deduction.
