How the score works
A full mistake counts as one and a half mistake counts as half. Those are taken off before your speed is worked out. Missed and repeated words are counted in groups. The result screen shows you the counted mistakes and the deductions behind your score. The score cannot fall below zero.
Typing tips
A wrong word is not worth going back for. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.
- Confirm the language and keyboard layout named by your state's LDC recruitment.
- If your state's notice gives a different timer or speed, use this as general practice. Score yourself against the real figures separately.
How to practise for a State Secretariat LDC typing test
"State Secretariat LDC" does not name one national exam format. Find the state, department, post and recruitment notice before you pick a typing target.
When a notice arrives, copy the issuing department and advertisement number first, then write the page number next to every requirement you pull out of it. If the document says only "typing proficiency", keep looking for a later skill-test instruction instead of supplying a WPM value yourself.
Four questions are usually worth answering: does the post need a certificate, a test, or both; is the language chosen by the candidate or fixed by the post; does the notice name a keyboard arrangement, font or application; and is speed a qualifying condition or part of a marks calculation. A preparation note that still makes sense once the department name is filled in is a good note.
While you wait, copy ordinary office paragraphs and inspect the words you missed. Our general preset runs ten minutes at 30 WPM English or 25 WPM Hindi with current-word correction, and those are practice defaults rather than a minimum you can assume applies to your recruitment. For a real mock, compare every setting against the instructions for your post.
