How the score works
A full mistake counts as one and a half mistake counts as half. Those are taken off before your speed is worked out. Missed and repeated words are counted in groups. The result screen shows you the counted mistakes and the deductions behind your score. The score cannot fall below zero.
Typing tips
A wrong word is not worth going back for. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.
- Standard-word WPM and KDPH are not interchangeable one-to-one. Do not assume net WPM after deductions equals KDPH divided by 300.
- Check the app's correction restriction against the active DSSSB instructions. Do not assume it is an official rule.
How to practise for the DSSSB LDC typing test
Find the correction boundary before you spend a session fighting it. In an untimed sample, type "form" as "from" and fix it. Then type a space and "received", and try to move back to "form". Whatever the practice screen lets you change is the boundary you are working inside.
For the copying work itself, use short office sentences with a capital at the start and punctuation at the end. When the timer stops, look at the errors that fall immediately after spaces. Those usually mean you were already thinking about the next word before finishing the current one.
Note the input controls alongside your WPM. A clean result with unrestricted editing is not comparable to one taken with current-word correction, so once you have confirmed the DSSSB instructions for your post, keep the same restriction across mock attempts.
On the five-key-depressions-per-word convention, 35 WPM is 10,500 KDPH and 30 WPM is 9,000 KDPH. That conversion does not turn net WPM after deductions into raw key depressions, and the browser counts from typed text rather than from every physical key press.

Does this result establish official qualification?
No. This is a practice score, not a DSSSB result. The speed figures were checked against the notice as of the source-note date. Recheck them if your recruitment cycle is newer.

Source note
Last checked 2026-09-14. DSSSB's typing test notice dated 07-07-2026 (post code 802/23: Grade-IV/Junior Assistant, LDC-cum-Typist, LDC and Assistant Grade-I posts) sets the test for 27 to 31 July 2026. It says candidates choose English or Hindi on the OARS portal, that English applies if no choice is made, and that the choice is final. That notice does not state the speed, duration or scoring, and says general instructions will be issued separately. The 10-minute, 35 WPM English and 30 WPM Hindi settings here come from an earlier check on 2026-07-16, so confirm them against the instructions for your own post code.
