Source notes: CPCT Typing Test Online
Documents and practice limits
Checked 2026-09-16 against two documents on the official CPCT site. The exam schedule PDF gives the timings: 75 minutes of multiple-choice questions, a 5-minute English mock, the English typing test at 15 minutes, a 10-minute Hindi mock, the Hindi typing test at 15 minutes, with breaks between them and 130 minutes in the chair. Differently abled candidates get 20 minutes for each typing section and 165 minutes in total. The official CPCT FAQ says the Hindi keyboard layouts available are Remington GAIL and InScript in Unicode, that the layout is chosen in the application form and costs Rs 50 to change, and that the scorecard is valid for seven years. The FAQ still carries the older headline of 120 minutes; the schedule PDF is the revised version and the CPCT homepage introduces it as such. Neither of those two states a qualifying speed, because CPCT reports a score and each department sets its own cut-off. The CPCT Rule Book for Examinees, section 3.9, does publish minimum passing scores of 30 net words per minute in English and 20 in Hindi, scaled to 50% of the module score; that Rule Book is undated in its text and its file was created in 2017, so treat those figures as current only until a dated CPCT document says otherwise. Check the current CPCT instructions before relying on any requirement.
