How we compared them
We looked at the things that decide whether practice carries over to the real test: whether the site states each exam's rules and links the notification, which languages and Hindi layouts it supports, what is free, whether you need an account to start, and which devices it runs on. We did not buy the other sites' paid plans, so paid features are described from their public pages only. We do not rank prices; check each site for its current offer.
The sites, one by one
Sarkari Exam Typing Our site
Best for: practising under a specific exam's rules, in English, Hindi, Punjabi or Marathi.
Each of the 32 exam presets sets the time, the error method, the backspace rule and the language for that exam, and the result is scored the same way. 17 presets have been checked against the official notification so far; the other 15 are still being checked. Hindi practice covers Kruti Dev 010, Mangal InScript and Mangal Remington GAIL. Five passages per language and all English lessons are free with no account. Paid plans are ₹79 for a month, ₹149 for three months, ₹249 for six months and ₹599 for lifetime access, with no auto-renewal. There is also a Windows app on the Microsoft Store.
Look elsewhere if: you want an Android app, live typing battles, dictation tests, or passages written around the exam syllabus. We have none of those.
TypingWale
Best for: syllabus-based passages and practice on an Android phone.
TypingWale's pitch is content: its passages come from syllabus topics, previous-year questions and current affairs, so a practice session also works as revision. It has about 60 exam pages, a CPCT screen modelled on the real test interface, Hindi layouts and an Android app.
Look elsewhere if: you want each rule linked to the notification it came from. Its exam pages cite official sources, but we have not checked its scoring against each notification. TypingWale compared with Sarkari Exam Typing.
SSCTypingTest.in
Best for: free SSC CGL, SSC CHSL and RRB NTPC passages with no sign-up.
About 70 test pages, each named after its passage topic, with the exam's speed and error rules written on the page. It is free and opens without an account.
Look elsewhere if: your exam is a High Court, CPCT or state clerk test. Its coverage centres on SSC and railway exams. SSCTypingTest.in compared.
MultiTyping
Best for: competing with other aspirants and trying dictation.
It runs live battle rooms, audio typing (dictation) and image typing, plus a large Hindi and Hinglish blog about exam notifications and practice plans. After a test it offers a drill on the words you got wrong.
Look elsewhere if: you prefer a quiet test screen. Its pages carry many prompts and promotions.
TypingBaba
Best for: learning to type from zero, and Hindi font tools.
Hundreds of lesson pages, Hindi font downloads, keyboard charts and Kruti Dev to Unicode converters.
Look elsewhere if: you need exam presets or exam scoring. It is a learning and tools site, not an exam simulator. TypingBaba compared.
Soni Typing Tutor
Best for: an installed Windows tutor for offline practice.
A long-running desktop program with exam-related practice, a user manual and Windows downloads.
Look elsewhere if: you want to practise in a browser or on more than one device. It is a desktop product. Soni Typing Tutor compared.
TestMentor
Best for: buying practice for one exam only.
TestMentor sells a course for each exam and publishes exam-rule articles in one consistent format, plus daily live tests.
Look elsewhere if: you are preparing for several exams at once, since each course is bought separately.
Which one should you use?
If your exam date is set, practise on a test that uses your exam's rules, then add any of the others for variety. Speed on a generic test does not tell you whether you would pass a test that counts full and half mistakes, ignores 5% of errors, or blocks backspace. Check your exam's rules in our typing test requirements table, which links each official notification.
