## About this practice test

Practise the RSSB Clerk Grade-II and Junior Assistant typing test on the official 10-minute timer. The Board's Phase-II guidelines set four papers of 25 marks each, with 9 marks needed to qualify in every one: Hindi and English speed tests, and Hindi and English efficiency tests in MS Word and Excel. This page practises the speed half.

## How the score works

Each correct English word earns 0.05 marks and each correct Hindi word earns 0.0625 marks. Wrong words earn no marks. Each language is scored out of 25, with 9 marks needed to qualify; the result screen shows which words counted.

## Typing tips

Keep typing when you slip. Correction keys behave the way the table above describes, so stopping to fight one word costs you more than the word is worth. Check the result screen afterwards to see what actually went wrong.

- Under this scheme, 180 correct English words or 144 correct Hindi words reach the 9-mark threshold. Keep typing correctly because marks continue to the 25-mark cap.
- This page only drills the passage-typing section. Any separate Phase-II efficiency component in your notice needs practice elsewhere.

## How to practise for the RSMSSB LDC typing test

This preset scores marks rather than raw WPM. Over ten minutes it awards 0.05 marks per correct English word and 0.0625 per correct Hindi word, capped at 25 marks, with a 9-mark practice threshold. That threshold works out to 180 correct English words or 144 correct Hindi words; the cap sits at 500 correct English words or 400 correct Hindi words.

As arithmetic: 200 correct English words earn 10 marks, while the same 200 correct Hindi words earn 12.5. That is how the configured scale behaves, not an independent statement of current recruitment rules. An attempt that just clears the threshold and one that reaches the cap need different next steps.

After a passage, work out which words fell short of the cap and why. Running out of time points to pacing drills. Mismatches that removed words you had already typed correctly point to accuracy drills on the specific error. Neither case is answered by more raw speed practice.

Give any separate efficiency or formatting task its own session in the software it names. The Hindi preset uses DevLys 010, and a font name alone does not settle every input setting, so confirm the keyboard, timing and complete Phase-II instructions for your recruitment before treating these draft settings as a mock.

For Hindi key combinations and matras, see the [Hindi typing guide](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/hindi-typing-practice-guide.html). The [scoring guide](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/typing-test-scoring.html) explains the speed and error figures shown in your practice result. If your written result just came out, see [what happens between the result and the typing test](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/blog/rsmssb-ldc-result-typing-test.html).

## Keyboard layouts

English practice uses QWERTY. For Hindi you can pick DevLys 010 (Remington). Check the layout named in your own exam notice before learning the keys.

## Common questions

**What targets does this practice test use?**

The practice threshold is 9 marks in both languages. The ceiling is 25 marks under RSSB's mark-per-word scheme. English uses QWERTY. Hindi uses DevLys 010.

**How do correction keys work here?**

Backspace and Delete work throughout the attempt. Arrows and Home/End are disabled. These are simulator settings, not confirmed RSSB editing rules.

**Are these settings confirmed for my recruitment?**

The speed-paper settings are. The Board's Phase-II guidelines of 12.12.2024 set 10 minutes and 25 marks per paper, 9 marks to qualify, a 500-word English passage and a 400-word Hindi one, and 0.05 and 0.0625 marks per correct word. The DevLys 010 layout offered here is this site's choice: the guidelines show Remington-style key codes but do not name a font. Check the notice for your own recruitment, because the Board issues fresh guidelines each cycle.

**How many marks do I need to pass the RSSB typing test?**

Nine out of 25 in each of the four Phase-II papers, according to the Board's guidelines. Candidates in the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories get a relaxation of up to 5 per cent in the minimum marks for every paper of every phase.

**What is the RSSB efficiency test, and is it practised here?**

It is the other half of Phase-II and it is not typing. The Board runs it in MS Word 2013 and MS Excel 2013 in both languages, with 15 separate questions per language covering tasks such as paragraph formatting, paging, headers and footers, fonts, background, table borders, spacing and word replace. Each language part is 25 marks over 10 minutes. This site practises the speed papers only, so you will need to prepare the efficiency papers elsewhere.

**Which keys are disabled in the RSSB efficiency test?**

The guidelines say Cut, Copy and Paste, the right mouse click, Select All and all the function keys are disabled during the efficiency test, while every other key works. CTRL+Z is explicitly allowed so you can undo your own mistakes.

**How long is each RSSB typing paper?**

Ten minutes. There are four papers in Phase-II and each one is 10 minutes and 25 marks. Entry to the exam centre closes one hour before the scheduled start time.

**What counts as an error in the RSSB speed test?**

The guidelines list them: a wrong letter, word or digit; omitting letters, words or digits; repeating a letter, word, digit or line; not reproducing punctuation as given; word-spacing errors; not matching capital and small letters in English; not matching matras in Hindi; repeated matras that look identical on screen but register as wrong; and letters typed with the wrong key sequence.
