# 10 Minute Typing Test Online in English and Hindi

A ten-minute attempt gives you time to copy a longer passage and see which mistakes recur. Choose a preset with a ten-minute timer before starting.

## Check the timer and layout

Not every preset uses ten minutes. Read the selected profile before starting. For an exam, also check the required language and keyboard arrangement against the current notice.

SSC CHSL LDC/JSA uses ten minutes in the 2026 notice. The RRB CEN 06/2024 CBTST instructions also set ten evaluated minutes; do not carry its warm-up or break length into another cycle without checking. Open the [CHSL profile](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/exams/ssc-chsl-typing-test.html) or [RRB profile](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/exams/rrb-ntpc-typing-test.html) for the source documents.

## What does 30 WPM mean over ten minutes?

Simple multiplication gives 300 words in ten minutes. That example does not include deductions, and the word definition matters: some models use five characters as a word, while others count passage words. Use the [scoring explanation](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/typing-test-scoring.html) to interpret the result.

## After the attempt

Read the marked passage, including the words around each mistake. Note whether you lost your place, repeated text or rushed near the end. Use the [speed improvement guide](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/blog/how-to-increase-typing-speed-for-government-exams.html) to choose one issue to practise before another full attempt.

Keep the same duration, layout and scoring model when comparing your results. You can repeat the free starter passages; use unfamiliar text as well when checking consistency.

If your recruitment test uses a different duration, practise that full duration too. Ten minutes is a practice choice, not a universal exam standard.

## Choose a ten-minute route

- [SSC CHSL English practice](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/app.html?exam=ssc_chsl_ldc_jsa&lang=en_qwerty) or [CHSL Hindi Mangal InScript practice](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/app.html?exam=ssc_chsl_ldc_jsa&lang=hi_mangal_inscript). The profile separates the notice's speed requirements from past result cut-offs.
- [RRB NTPC English practice](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/app.html?exam=rrb_ntpc_clerk_typist&lang=en_qwerty). The site's detailed mechanics follow CEN 06/2024, with limitations listed on its profile.
- [PSSSB English and Punjabi practice](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/exams/psssb-clerk-typing-test.html). Its ten-minute model follows historic Board instructions; Advertisement 02/2026 needs its own instructions.

Other profiles and durations are in the [requirements directory](https://sarkariexamtyping.com/government-typing-test-requirements.html). CPCT and CGL DEST use fifteen-minute practice; Rajasthan High Court speed practice uses five. Select the full duration your own test requires.

## Frequently asked questions

### How many words is 30 WPM over ten minutes?

Three hundred words, if nothing is deducted.

That figure is gross speed. Net speed depends on the selected scoring formula and the mistakes counted. It can equal gross speed when no deduction applies.

### Why does the same speed give different scores?

Because the deduction model differs by exam.

One word off per mistake, ten words off past an allowance, and correct-words-only all produce different results from identical typing. Read the selected exam profile to see which calculation applies.

### Should I practise at ten minutes if my exam is fifteen?

No. Practise the full duration your notice sets.

Pace that holds for ten minutes often falls apart at fifteen, and that is exactly the thing you want to find out before the exam rather than during it.
